Claimed Off Waivers? Elliotte Friedman Confirms It For The New York Rangers After Two Forwards Hit Waivers
Trusted NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has just confirmed the fate of two players after they were placed on waivers on Monday afternoon, two intriguing players that the New York Rangers could desperately use.
On Monday afternoon, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman announced that
Mitchell Chaffee (Tampa Bay Lightning), and Brett Leason (Washington Capitals) have hit the waiver wire, and with
Vincent Trocheck's return to the New York Rangers still unclear they could certainly use the reinforcements.
However, now that it is the following day, Elliotte Friedman has just confirmed whether or not Chris Drury decided to utilize the cap relief from Trocheck being placed on LTIR.
Eliiotte Friedman Confirms Chaffee's and Leason's Fate With The New York Rangers
It's clear that Chris Drury could use either Mitchell Chaffee or Brett Leason
as waiver claims and help bolster the lineup, while Vinnie Trocheck remains sidelined.
As both could be quick, efficient adds, and without much to add to the salary cap if acquired. Chaffee makes $800 AAV (average annual value) and has one year left on his deal, while Leason makes $775K AAV.
However, New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury, has failed to make another move to help bolster the teams roster, as Elliotte Friedman has confirmed that both players have cleared waivers and will report to their respective AHL organizations.
Hopefully this just means Vincent Trocheck's return to the Rangers lineup is sooner than expected. But do you think Chris Drury should have claimed either player off waivers until Trocheck returns? Let us know in the poll down below.
