According to latest reports the New York Rangers are one of three teams that are interested in acquiring veteran forward from the San Jose Sharks at the trade deadline.

It seems to be clear that the San Jose Sharks won't be a contending team this year. As they still have a very underwhelming forward group, a young goaltender, along with not having he strongest defensive group either.
However, with that being said the Sharks did sign some players to short-term deals in hopes to get some value out of them at the trade deadline. One of those players being veteran forward Jeff Skinner.
Skinner signed a one-year, $3 million AAV deal with the San Jose Sharks back on July 11th, after the Edmonton Oilers refused to resign him, as he didn't live up to expectations during the 2024-25 season.
The 33-year old forward is expected to play middle-six minutes with the Sharks and could even see more playing as the organizations bottom-six is extremely weak. So if everything turns out that way and he can bounce back, its likely that teams including the New York Rangers will be interested.

Would Jeff Skinner Be A Good Fit For The New York Rangers?

Rob Couch of the NHL Trade Rumors, has shared his opinion on he believes the New York Rangers would be interested in acquiring Jeff Skinner from the Sharks at the trade deadline.
Here's what he had to say:
"I am very confident that the New York Rangers will be a much better team this season after the 2024-25 mess. There are plenty of inexperienced players ready to step in and get opportunities, but some of them may not be everyday players and some may spend the majority of the season in the AHL. When the Rangers are firmly in a playoff spot and they are looking to bolster the forward group with experience, Skinner will be sitting there and be able to provide that, despite the lack of playoff experience.

It's hard not to agree with that, but at the same time Skinner didn't step up much during the Edmonton Oilers playoff run just last season as he only tallied one goal and one assists during their entire playoff run.
