Vinnie Trocheck is a player whose value is understated with the New York Rangers. Last season, the center led the Rangers' top line at times with Artemi Panarin on the flank. Not only will Mike Sullivan have a solid two-way center at his disposal, but we'll take a look at why he's so underrated.
Last season in 82 games with the New York Rangers, Vinnie Trocheck scored 26-33-59 points. As a top-six center, he's played a vital role on and off the ice.
From an offensive outlook, he's a consistent 20-goal scorer for the team, while he'd reach a career high during the Presidents' Trophy run in 2023-24, scoring 77 points.
Yet, his star wouldn't shine like Alexis Lafreniere's or Artemi Panarin's would. He would remain in the depths, as a silent contributor.
His playstyle would complement Artemi Panarin's flair, as a hard-nosed two-way forward who plays for every inch of the ice.
Vincent Trocheck Is An All-Situations Player
Vinnie Trocheck's excellent performance on the ice would lead to him getting a power-play assignment. Peter Laviolette would trust him on the PK due to the defensive style he plays.
The Rangers forward plays a game that makes him a reliable contributor on both ends of the rink.
Whenever the Rangers need a goal, Trocheck is on the ice, and whenever the Rangers need their best defensive players out there, Trocheck is on the ice.
He's a proven commodity in the lineup and adds intangibles in the locker room as a leader, too.
Whenthe team traded Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks, Trocheck would step in and provide leadership where the team was lacking.
He has shown leadership by addressing the local media when no other player would, and has built a great relationship with players, fans, and offers words of wisdom when asked.
Trocheck deserves a candidacy for captain from the New York Rangers.
