Rangers captain issues statement on the fine received by NHL Player Safety
New York Rangers Captain Jacob Trouba has committed crimes on ice yet again, as the Captain was fined the max allowed by the CBA.
A $5K fine, was levied by the NHL, as Trouba's collision with Evan Rodrigues resulted in him being taken off the ice last night.
The elbow occurred during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final, at 17:32 in the 2nd period of the game.
Trouba was asked about the elbow by Vince Mercogliano:
Jacob Trouba on the elbow that resulted in today's fine:
"He kind of went to the middle. It all happens pretty fast. It's not something you're thinking about 1,000 times over and over again. It just happens fast. It's hockey. I don't have a great explanation for it."

Looking at the footage, it seems that Rodrigues was attempting to miss a collision with Trouba which resulted in the captain's elbow hitting the forward's neck and back shoulder.
Given Trouba's reputation on ice, you'd think he'd be more calculating regarding a hit, but no explanation doesn't sound acceptable, or that you've learned from your mistake.
On Jan 26th, Trouba was suspended two games for elbowing Vegas Golden Knights rookie Pavel Dorofeyev.
Before that in November, he was fined $5K for high-sticking the Boston Bruins Trent Frederic.
There's much to be said about what you say, but for Trouba his list of transgressions is a grocery list.
Quit committing crimes, Captain.
