The season starts tomorrow for the New York Rangers, and newly appointed head coach, Peter Laviolette, is leaving no stones unturned.

The Rangers have another session of practice today in their practice facility, in Tarrytown, and a main focus was in specific, situational work.
This is what Vince Z. Mercogliano had to say on X:
It's interesting to see the American born coach take a day of practice to improve and ready the team for even the most situational circumstances, more than either of the previous two coaches for the Rangers.
For the record, last season the Rangers ranked tied for ninth in the league in goals for (GF) on 5v5, with 182. In that very same situation last season, they were tied for ninth, with goals against (GA) at 153.
In 6v5 situations, the Rangers ranked tied for 15th, with 4 GF, and tied for first, with 5 GA. In 4v4 situations, the Rangers ranked tied for fifth, with 4 GF, and tied for third with only 1 GA. In 3v3 situations, the Rangers tied for 17th, with 5 GF, and tied for 23rd with 7 GA.
It'll be interesting to see how the Rangers will improve in any of these situations as their season begins tomorrow, October 12, against the Buffalo Sabres, at KeyBank Center, in Buffalo.
