One Major Question Looms Regarding New York Rangers Top Prospect Ahead Of The 2025-26 Season

The New York Rangers begin 2025-26 with an intent to win. The primary mode of the postseason was to make meaningful trades, and one of which saw the team acquire top prospect Scott Morrow, but what of another piece in the Rangers' future? Where will Gabe Perreault fit into Mike Sullivan's system in Madison Square Garden?
The New York Rangers have a potential top-six forward who is poised to make the jump into the NHL full-time this season.
Gabe Perreault, who made the decision to turn pro and join the NHL last year, played in the Rangers organization for 5 games. He'd be held scoreless, but would get good looks on the ice and show plenty of potential.
For the rookie forward, he will not only be competing for a spot in the lineup at training camp, but could be a Calder Trophy finalist if he performs up to expectations.
It's not a given that Perreault will find himself in a top-six role out of the gate. Considering he's had a cup of coffee in the big-time, he still has to acclimate to the NHL ice after spending 73 games at Boston College.
He'd score 108 points (35-73) with the Eagles and make the transition into the NHL hurriedly.
While he'd whiff most of his shots on goal, the best part for Perreault was that he'd take his chance when he got them.
It seems likely that as a rookie, he'll find himself in a role that we saw
Will Cuylle start out in as a rookie, on the third line.
For Perreault, this will give him ample time to log minutes and a reason to fill out his frame so he's not capable of being pushed off the puck.
We should expect the rookie forward to earn time, especially as he has to learn a new system with a new coach, in Mike Sullivan.
