Will John Tortorella return for a new stint at ESPN? It seems like the best option for him as an analyst, considering his latest run in Philadelphia didn't turn out to be as successful as he'd hoped. The former Rangers head coach remains out of a job, experiencing a situation we've seen with other coaches formerly on the carousel before.

The NHL coaching carousel is experiencing a malfunction? Or is it General Managers resetting the ride itself, as new riders like Dan Muse and Andrew Brunette have joined the mix?

Has John Tortorella's Ride on the NHL Coaching Carousel Concluded?

For John Tortorella, that is the sound that his 25-cent ride has come to a screeching halt after his disappointing run in Philadelphia.
It's now September, and the old-school, orthodox coach, Tortorella, has no job in the NHL, as an assistant coach or otherwise.
Tortorella clashed with superstar Matvei Michkov, and despite recent improvements, the team failed to make any where it counted: no ticket to the playoffs.
«Torts is a complicated man. He's a complicated coach. He's a blast to work with because he challenges you. I truly believe he made me a better GM. He's not a 'yes' man," Briere said. "He had opinions and he's earned the right to share his opinion. We listened to him. But we felt it was time to move in a different direction.»

We once thought that John Tortorella would be a candidate for an assistant role under Mike Sullivan, in an ironic role reversal.
That didn't come into fruition for Tortorella, who has since remained unemployed, after speaking with the Rangers in regards to a job.
Sullivan served as an assistant coach under Tortorella from 2009 to 2013.
He'd later go on to win two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and returned to MSG this season as the team's newest head coach.
It's difficult to see where Tortorella will land next, but we're sure he'll still hate Michigan goals and bench Connor McDavid in his fantasies.
