We've reached the end of August. This signals the end of free agency, and the time teams begin preparing for training camp. For players left hanging with no deals, they'll have to accept a PTO, or at worst, a league minimum deal. Even though Jack Roslovic has drawn interest from multiple teams, including the Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs, the former New York Rangers forward remains unsigned.
Jack Roslovic suited up for the Rangers in a brief stint where he played a total of 19 games in New York. He'd contribute 8 points (3-5) in that period.
He wouldn't be signed to deal when the postseason came around, and would instead make his way to the Carolina Hurricanes for the 2024-25 season, where he found a spot in Rod Brind'Amour's system.
The forward would have a career year, scoring 22 goals and 39 points. It makes you ponder, coming off a great season, why is he still hunting for a contract this late in the year?
Roslovic is mulling options that range from multiple NHL teams, including some KHL teams, too.
Teams looking for scoring either down the middle or on the wing should have Roslovic on their radar. It will be interesting to see where he ends up, but it should only be a matter of time before he finds his new home.
In 2024-25, the former 15th overall pick made $2.8 million AAV playing for the Hurricanes, who, for some reason, couldn't find a spot for him in the lineup.
Now, as the season comes into fruition, will Roslovic have to settle for a league minimum deal or a PTO in order to stay in the NHL?
