The New York Rangers haven't had a big postseason in 2025. The moves were limited, and some of the bigger signings would end up being Adam Edstrom and Matt Rempe, who received identical contracts. GM Chris Drury could still make some moves before the beginning of the season.
The New York Rangers' main goal for the 2025-26 season is to find a spot in the playoffs. They just missed the wildcard spot after failing to push Ottawa or Montreal out of the spots in the East.
A 5th-place finish would trigger a retool and a reorganization of the team.
While it does seem as if the team is set for now, they have some talent that they could move out with only $775K left in the bank.
There are a number of fringe NHL players in the organization, and the Rangers don't necessarily need that. These are players like Conor Sheary, Justin Dowling, Juuso Parssinen, and Jonny Brodzinski.
The team will have to find more talent, as we could see a few prospects make the team out of training camp, but as you and I know in the NHL, nothing is certain.
Nothing Is Certain in Blueshirt Territory
Brett Berard, Matt Rempe, Brennan Othmann, Gilbert Perrault, and Adam Edstrom could be on the cusp of full 82-game roles if they can help put the Rangers back on track and impress Mike Sullivan.
While Taylor Raddysh and Sam Carrick might be in and out of the lineup often due to the mass amount of depth that GM Chris Drury acquired this postseason.
It'll be neck and neck for some players in the bottom six, and for the Rangers, competition could be a great thing.
They still need to upgrade their top six, and stopgaps could end up being a player like Max Pacioretty or Jack Roslovic, depending on how GM Chris Drury finds a way to make it work.
While we could see more movement from the team in August and September, right on the cusp of training camp.
The Rangers could bounce back strong in 2025-26, but it depends on GM Chris Drury perfecting the formula, something he has yet to do during his tenure in New York.
