New York Rangers Organization Issues A Special Announcement Regarding Their Former 1st-Overall Draft Pick

Earlier on Saturday morning, the New York Rangers made an announcement celebrating one special forward, Alexis Lafreniere as today is his birthday.

Today is Lafreniere's birthday as the youngster turns 24-years old, resulting in the New York Rangers to make a special post on social media wishing him a happy birthday as the star was born on October 11th, 2001.

Lafreniere was originally drafted by the New York Rangers with the first-overall draft pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and has since spent the last five season with the organization. He is now currently going onto his sixth season.

The 24-year old forward has been a part of the New York Rangers success over the last few years. However, just like every other player on the Rangers roster, he had a bit of a down year after posting a career high in points the season before (2023-24) where he tallied a career high of 57 points (28 G, 29 A).

He then took a hit in production this past season, as Lafreniere only tallied 17 Goals and 28 Assists, for a total of 45 points.

Certainly not terrible numbers considering the teams performance , but hopefully the youngster can start to turn things around this year as many have high expectations for the former first-overall draft pick, something he still hasn't quite lived up to just yet.

This just might the season it all changes as he already has two points through the New York Rangers first two games this season.
