New York Rangers draft Malcolm Spence with their 43rd overall pick of the 2025 NHL Draft

The New York Rangers have officially made their first selection of the 2025 NHL Draft, as they draft Malcolm Spence of the OHL Erie Otters with their 43rd overall pick.
Malcolm Spence was originally projected to in the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft, roughly near the 24th overall pick but somehow he fell through to the second round.

#NYR have selected Malcolm Spence from the Erie Otters of the OHL.
Lots of people thought that Spence could have went in the late 1st round last night.

Certainly a very solid pick by the New York Rangers as the LW has showed great promise during his last season in the OHL:

Spence has committed to play for the University of Michigan Wolverines for the 2025-26 season, joining his childhood friend, Michael Hage, in Ann Arbor. They should make a formidable duo for the Wolverines as Spence's physical presence could help clear space for Hage, the 22nd overall selection in the 2024 Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.
If he does play at Michigan next season, he will be able to continue to develop the skills that make him such a versatile forward.
