Must see: New York Rangers' Mika Zibanejad Strikes First for Team Sweden and it's a beauty
Rangers' forward Mika Zibanejad has looked unlike himself this season, as his production has tanked. Now, playing in the Four Nations Face-Off, it looks like his confidence has returned.
Today, at 11:25 in the 1st period of the first Four Nations Face-Off game, Mika Zibanajead struck the first blow against Finland.
The Swedish forward would put Sweden on the scoreboard, as Zibanejad would take advantage of the centering pass from Wiliam Nylander, to put one behind
Kevin Lankinen in the net for Finland.
Zibanejad's shot was perfect, as he scored from the slot and would give Sweden the early lead.
If you look at how he's played during the Four Nations Face-Off these past few games you wonder why he hasn't found the same kind of conviction to play like his is now.
Given that the NHL has been paused and all eyes are on Team USA, and Canada maybe he doesn't feel the kind of pressure he's found in Madison Square Garden.
Either way, it was a beauty.
Assists were given to Elias Petterson, and
Filip Forsberg on the first goal of the game.
The last time we saw Zibanejad play in an international setting, he'd suited up for Sweden in 2017-2018 and would score 11 points (6 G, 5 A) in 10 games.
This season for the Rangers he's scored 11 goals and 37 points in 55 games.
Zibanejad is one of six other Rangers players competing in the Four Nations Face-Off along with JT Miller,
Adam Fox, Vinnie Trocheck, and
Urho Vaakanainen.
