The New York Rangers are in the midst of not only roster turnover, but a shift in culture. Typically, new blood means new talent brought into the front office and on the roster. For the Rangers, they could benefit from acquiring Ottawa Senators Captain Brady Tkachuk could turn things around.
The New York Rangers have a plethora of great talent in the mix that could help keep their window of contention open. But they're missing a gritty, legitimate superstar who could galvanize the team in
Jacob Trouba's absence.
For that, they'll have to look within the Atlantic Division and the Ottawa Senators to find that guy:
Brady Tkachuk.
Brad Tkachuk: Future New York Rangers Captain?
The Ottawa Senators' Captain has been put into a trade proposal by the site Heavy.com, and it is intriguing to think about.
In all earnestness, the Rangers wouldn't be giving up much as Gabe Perreault's NHL hasn't started yet, but he could find more playing time on a rebuilding Senators team.
While Brady Tkachuk could be the spearhead who leads the Rangers if
Artemi Panarin, a future UFA, doesn't re-up with the Blueshirts.
Given it'd all depend on whether or not he'd be willing to re-sign in Ottawa, as his $8.25 million AAV contract will be ending soon, and if he fails to re-sign, the team loses him for nothing.
Getting Tkachuk in advance would put another name in the hat for the leadership group in New York, along with Carter Yakemchuk, who is a top defense prospect in Ottawa.
While the move gives Alexis Lafreniere a much-needed fresh start, as he never grew into what the team needed him to be in New York.
