Insider evaluates Alexis Lafreniere's next contract with the New York Rangers
The New York Rangers as a team have high expectations from fans and pundits alike, as they want to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals.
They will need contributions from players from the bottom up to make it happen.
One of the players to pay attention to in 2024-2025, is Alexis Lafreniere who shared a line with
Artemi Panarin, and Vinnie Troecheck.
Lafreniere scored 57 points(28 G, 29 A) and would be tied for first on the team with eight goals during the Stanley Cup playoffs.
They expect Lafreniere to continue his growth into the 2024-2025 NHL season, which will be vital for the Rangers prospects in a Cup hunt. It'll also be important for Lafreniere's own contract evaluations in the future.
We should expect his contract to be bigger in 2025-2026.
Lafreniere's Contract Projections
When Lafreniere was drafted 1st overall in 2020, the expectation was for him to become a superstar in the NHL. Year-4 into his NHL career and it seems like he is going to live up to his potential.
It seems Lafreniere is set to stay in New York long-term, as Dan Rosen NHL Insider, expects him to sign an extension as an important piece for the team's future.
There's speculation that Lafrniere's next AAV could be over $6 Million per year should he continue down the path he's forged for himself. This could be a given should he hit the 60-point or 30-goal mark.
We can get an idea of Lafreniere's next contract by looking at the recent contract
Lucas Raymond signed. Raymond scored 72 points last season and was rewarded by the Red Wings with $64.6 Million, with an AAV of $8.075 Million, after having a career year.
Lafreniere has the potential to break out for the New York Rangers and could fetch similar numbers to Raymond's contract with the Detroit Red Wings.
