Former New York Yankees pitcher and legend, Octavio Dotel, died tragically in a hotel roof collapse, according to sources from the Dominican Republic.

According to Diario Libre, the former New York Yankees pitcher Octavio Dotel, along with 27 other people, died in a tragic roof collapse at the Jet Set club in Santo Domingo.
The details of the incident haven't fully emerged, but he was initially reported to be pulled from the rubble alive and would arrive at the hospital without vital signs, dying too young at the age of 51.
The tragic situation itself has a lack of details to report on, but it appears hundreds of people were waiting for a concert at the venue where Dotel was.
After the accident, dozens of people were reported to be pulled out of the rubble alive, thankfully, but those figures aren't solid and could be subject to change as the recovery process continues.
The former Yankees pitcher was trapped in the rubble for about 11 hours before help arrived to rescue him and others.
Dotel was well known to MLB fans who watched him debut with the Mets during1999 MLB season and would pitch in the league decade, becoming a journeyman playing for various teams.
Dotel would eventually find himself most successful as a relief pitcher in the MLB.
Though his earned run average was over 5.00 in both 1999 and 2000, he posted a 2.66 ERA in 2001. He tossed 105 innings over 61 appearances, only four of those being starts.

He'd continue his career as a reliever in the MLB for nine years after that and would pitch for the Yankees, Athletics, Royals, Braves, White Sox, Pirates, Dodgers, Rockies, Blue Jays, Cardinals, and the Tigers.
He'd win a World Series in 2011 with the Cardinals, and recorded 109 saves during his career.
He finished his career with a 3.78 ERA in 758 games.

Dotel would finish his career in the MLB in 2014.
We send our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Octavio Dotel in these trying times.
