The latest update on former Rangers forward Filip Chytil is promising. This comes after a disturbing hit by Tom Wilson of the Washington Capitals, which injured the forward on October 19th. With his concussion issues, we expected the worst but hoped for the best.

While it doesn't sound like forward Filip Chytil will be taking the ice for the Canucks anytime soon, we've received hopeful news regarding his status.
The forward hasn't played an NHL game since October 19th, was hit by the Washington Capitals' Tom Wilson. It happened in the first period, and despite the 4-3 win by the Canucks, they'd lose Chytil to the injured reserve.
«Obviously, [we're going] through the protocols here. He's been home [in Vancouver]. He left with our doctor from Washington on Monday, so he's making progress, but obviously [has] not cleared,» Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin explained Friday. «You've gotta' go through all the stages here [with] where he is, but it's been some encouraging progress here.»

Thanks to the open-ice hit of Wilson, he remains one game short of reaching his 400th career NHL game played.
This season with the Canucks, he's played a total of 6 games and scored 3 points (3 G),

This is the Second Injury Filip Chytil has sustained as a Vancouver Canuck

The Canucks acquired Chytil on January 31st when they sent J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers. He'd suffer another concussion in March after taking a hit from Jason Dickinson, and while he'd skate with the team, he'd never play another game against last season.
He felt great about this upcoming season:
«Knock on wood, I feel very good and feel very positive,» Chytil told the 100% Canucks Podcast.

But this injury follows a history of injuries during his eight-year career playing for the New York Rangers.
It's great to hear Chytil is progressing, but how many concussions is too many? It's a valid question to ask at this point.
