When the New York Rangers decided to hire Peter Laviolette as their new head coach, many felt the team may struggle due to the fact of their slower team foot speed that was built in the construction.
Since his systems have been instilled, Peter Laviolette used his experience and made a slight change to the style of their game which has revolutionized the Rangers.
ESPN analyst Greg Wyshynski was on Puck Talk podcast and saw as he described what it has done and how the Rangers are better.
As Wyshynski pointed out, the Rangers can now keep up with most of the other teams as they continue their quick style of play and avoid losing the foot race.
Playoffs can be a different story as the game will tend to slow down and a more checking style hockey will begin to emerge.
The Rangers are currently evaluating their team as they are preparing to be ready for the NHL trade deadline which is 7 days away.
There are still holes to fill and depending on who they trade for could give the team another look as they go into the playoffs.
