In the early part of this season, it seemed that everyone from pundits to fans felt that former Vezina winning goalie Igor Shesterkin had lost his way and was beginning to spiral downward.

The numbers certainly dictated those thoughts and trade talk, and rumors began to surface across the Rangers fan sites.

Fast forward to early March and those critics are long gone.

Igor Shesterkin has turned his game completely around and is looking like the star everyone knows he is.

This was broken down on the NHL Network with former goalies Devin Dubnyk and Cory Schneider.

This complete turn around is exactly what general manager Chris Drury and head coach Peter Laviolette were hoping for as he kept playing the beleaguered goaltender in hopes that he would regain his form and become an elite puck stopper.

The Rangers had a safety net in Jonathan quick which gave the team a chance to win some games and give Igor Shesterkin more time to refocus

In his last four games alone, his numbers have been incredible having one four straight games and save percentages between .968 and .976 with only four goals allowed.

His overall record for the season has been far better recently as he has played 39 games, with a record of 26-12-1 2.65 goals against and .911 save percentage.

All, these are the kind of numbers a team is looking to make a long-term playoff run in hopes of winning a Stanley Cup will need from their starting goalie.
