The hockey community is in mourning, as European hockey player, Gary Kelly, passed away tragically in Ibiza, Spain, at the age of 19. The former Dundee Ice Hockey player fell off a balcony, from the third floor of the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in Spain.
Former Dundee Stars and Aberdeen Lynx hockey player Gary Kelly passed away tragically at the age of 19 on vacation in Spain.
Details on the incident weren't shared with the public until recently, as he had passed away after falling from the third floor of the Ibiza Rocks Hotel on June 21st.
According to the local media, the Police have stepped in to investigate.
Ibiza Rocks has suspended all forthcoming events «out of respect for those involved,» while Spanish Police have launched an investigation into Kelly's death.
Former Team's Pay Tribute
Kelly played for both the Dundee Stars and the Aberdeen Lynx, where he most recently played hockey in the Scottish National League.
With the Aberdeen Lynx, the U-17 Scottish forward scored a total of 75 points (44-31) in 54 games.
Kelly would later re-sign with the Lynx for the upcoming 2025-26 season. As tragedy strikes, the tributes pour in from both the Stars and Lynx.

The Lynx would add that Gary's absence leaves a void, as he was more than just a hockey player to them.
In a written statement, the Lynx added: «Gary was more than just a talented hockey player - he was a young man full of heart, passion, and dedication.

Though the sport of hockey isn't as popular in the United Kingdom as it is in North America, Russia, Finland, and Sweden, it's a gift to know that hockey fans are all around the world.
Gary Kelly represents the larger movement of the sport, and we all suffer due to his loss.
