Many teams in the NHL felt that they needed to make moves during this year's trade deadline in order to improve their team and improve their chances to go on a long run in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

While the Rangers added Alex Wennberg from the Seattle Kraken along with depth moves of Jack Roslovic and Chad Ruhwedel, Ryan Whitney of the spitting chiclets absolutely gushed about the moves that were made by the Rangers rivalsthe Carolina Hurricanes.

According to Whitney, he feels that adding Jake Guentzel and Evgeny Kuznetsov have made the Hurricanes more dangerous and with a good chance of moving past their playoff hump.

The last time the team won the Stanley Cup was almost 20 years ago back in 2005-2006.

Saying all this, there are many teams in the Eastern Conference who would make a statement that they could get past the Hurricanes, and it remains to be seen on whether the team can do so as there are still question marks in goal and their defence core.

Both the Rangers and Hurricanes are sitting at 68 games played.

With the Rangers holding a four-point lead on 1st in the metro, it's important that they continue to put their foot on the gas and put as much distance as they can while locking up that spot.
