With the NHL seeds closing in on being locked for the first round of the playoffs, Johnny Lazarus and Colby Cohen have a great debate on their Morning Cuppa Hockey show on which Eastern Conference team should make the playoffs this year.
There are several teams in the mix for the final two wild card spots.
However, it came down between the Metro division Washington Capitals and the Atlantic division Detroit Red Wings.
Both podcasters make great arguments on which team would be better suited in the first round.
With many of these teams failing to take those final two spots by their hands, I do agree that the Washington Capitals will be the one that will make the playoffs as they have been playing amazing hockey as of late and clearly want to make the postseason even though they're one of the worst defensive teams in the league.
This Capitals team has played 70 games so far and has a record of 35-26-9 for 79 points.
What's more shocking is that the team holds a - 27 goal differential and yet are right within striking distance of the Flyers for third in the metropolitan division.
It's going to be a photo finish for all these teams and the Rangers will need to wait and see on who their opponent will be.
