As it's coming up on a year since the death of Johnson, a former Pittsburgh Penguins player who took a skate blade to the neck during a game in Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). The police have revealed next to nothing about the investigation, but have recently released an update.
According to a recent report, the police investigation into Johnson's death is still ongoing , and Petgrave has had his bail extended until November 11th, 2024.
"On Monday, police said a man, who was initially arrested in November, had been bailed again until 11 November.
A spokesperson for the force said: 'Our investigation is ongoing, and our thoughts remain with Adam's family.'"
Adam Johnson was unfortunately killed after a freak accident that involved Matt Petgrave in October 2023. Petgrave's skate blade came up after colliding with another player and caught Johnson in the neck, despite the efforts of the team's medical staff Johnson sadly passed away in front of 8,000 hockey fans.
Since then many leagues have made neck guards mandatory, and strongly recommend players to use cut-resistant clothing under their gear.
