In a very unexpected turn of events, a Metropolitan division veteran had undergone surgery on his heart as it was confirmed that he had a hole in his heart.
Recent reports confirm that Metro division veteran and Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang had undergone a successful surgery to close a patent foramen ovale (PFO), a small hole in the heart.

According to the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, Letang will take four to six weeks to recover and will miss the Penguins' final regular-season game Thursday.
Along with that, they anticipated him to return in time for training camp this fall.

The operation was performed by interventional cardiologist Dr. Conrad Smith at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Just this season along, Letang has recorded nine goals and 30 assists in 74 games.
Certainly not the first time Kris Letang has faced an injury or surgery throughout his career, and with the expected recovery time everything sounds promising that he will return to the ice next season.
