David Pastrnak responds to comments made by coach Jim Montgomery
After Game 6, the Boston Bruins' head coach Jim Montgomery made comments about David Pastrnak and stated that he needed to pull his weight and do better as a player. In an interview, David Pastrnak responds by stating that he heard what his coach said and that he agreed that he needed to step up and do better. Pastrnak stated that he had no problem with what the coach said and that the coach was trying to bring the best out in everyone on the team. Pastrnak was quick to admit he still has room for improvement and a lot of growth to do.
Fans received his response well and stated that they could respect a guy who could admit his faults and own up to needing to get better at his craft. Taking criticism for the sake of growth is not something most people can do so they admire Pastrnak for this. The fans also stated that they couldn't see why any Bruins fan wouldn't like Pastrnak after his humble reply.
Pastrnak didn't react negatively to the coach's comments and showed him that he could accept the criticism with grace and played better during the Boston's bruins last game which speaks volumes of the hockey player and his character. However, I can't say the same about Jim Montgomery as I still believe he should have come to the player in private to discuss the matter. Doing so would have saved Jim Montgomery the public criticism and made him seem more supportive than fans are painting him out to be.
