An unidentified player suffered a cut to the neck with a skate during a U16AAA game last night in Eastern Ontario, similar to the fatal collision that happened to Adam Johnson, who unfortunately did not survive on October 28th.
Fortunately, the player last night was wearing a neck guard to minimize the impact.
He required stitches but thankfully he is fine and received the proper care.
The family of the young player has given permission to post and share the photo to raise awareness and to ensure players always wear safety equipment.
It baffles me how the NHL still has not implemented a mandatory ruling yet after the death of Johnson.
The English Hockey League almost immediately made it mandatory after Johnson's passing. Hopefully it doesn't take a player in the NHL to suffer a similar fate to enforce these rules.
We will update this story as more information becomes available with the young man.
