Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell publicly addressed Johnny Gaudreau's replacement
The Columbus Blue Jackets have lost a key player after Johnny Gaudreau's tragic death, on August 29th.
As it may seem too early to discuss this topic, as many are still mourning the passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. But Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager, Don Waddell has decided to publicly address this topic.
The Blue Jackets are currently under the cap floor and will have no choice but to find and sign someone to help reach the salary floor of the NHL.
As just a few weeks ago
Patrik Laine was traded to the Montreal Canadiens ($8.7M AAV) and now Johnny Gaudreau's contract ($9.75M AAV) has came off the Blue Jackets books.

Will the Blue Jackets sign someone to fix this issue?
Despite this being way to soon to discuss, Don Waddell has released a statement addressing the situation:
»I know there are questions about our team, how we will move forward without Johnny and the impact this loss will have on our team. Those questions will be answered another day. Our immediate priority is supporting the Gaudreau family.»
- Don Waddell
Truly this was the best way Don Waddell could have addressed this topic.
We know fans are just curious as to what will happen, but at this time it shouldn't be a priority for the team to address this, while the Gaudreau family is still mourning the tragic loss. The Blue Jackets have made it clear that they're focused on supporting Johnny's loved ones.
