Sportsnet commentator Ron MacLean issues massive announcement regarding former New York Rangers

During the Hockey Night in Canada segment on May 10th, Ron McLean made the surprising announcement that former New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets legend Blake Wheeler will be joining the panel.

After the buyout of his contract from the Winnipeg Jets, the longtime veteran and former captain Blake Wheeler signed a one-year deal with the New York Rangers.

Prior to the 2024-25 season Blake Wheeler made the decision to not sign another contract and decide to hang up the skates, as the 38-year old was no longer excited to deal with the emotional ups and downs an NHL season. With the way Rangers played this past season, it's safe to say he made the right choice.

Back on May 10th, Ron MacLean confirmed that Blake Wheeler will join the 'Hockey Night in Canada' panel, and will be a guest for three nights as an analyst, and just on Sunday night Wheeler made an appearance throughout the Leafs vs Panthers Game-Four.

It's always nice to see former players part taken on panels and giving their outlook of the games.

Blake Wheeler will end his NHL career after 16 seasons, where he managed to tally a total of 321 goals and 943 points in 1172 games split between the Boston Bruins, Atlanta Thrashers,Winnipeg Jets and New York Rangers.
