Several New York Rangers stars snubbed from representing their Nations at the 2025 IIHF World Championship

The New York Rangers won't be overly represented at the IIHF World Championships in 2025. Two notable young players will forego playing for their country, as Alexis Lafreniere and K'Andre Miller will stay home.
We thought we'd be able to see K'Andre Miller and Alexis Lafreniere suit up for their respective countries in the IIHF Tournament in 2025.
Both players would be asked by the local media whether they'd be competing, but Miller wouldn't give a definitive answer. Partly, because we don't know if he received an actual invite.
The Athletic's Peter Baugh:
Asked K'Andre Miller if he's been approached by USA Hockey about playing at this summer's World Championships. He said «not directly,» but he'd «for sure» be interested in playing for the U.S.
They won't be joining their teammates, like Mika Zibanejad, Brett Berard, Will Cuylle, Juuso Parssinen, and Dylan Garand.
We'd love to see them both suit up for Canada and the USA but for reasons unknown they won't be on either team's rosters in 2025.
We don't know if injury is to play in the reason they're sitting out this year.
The IIHF World Championship would be a great way for both players to showcase their abilities and continue to grow in international play.
This could've been a way to turn their game around their down-year, but for some reason will be practicing at home more likely.
K'Andre Miller, like his teammates, finished the 2024-2025 season in a gut-wrenching fashion. The skilled two-way defenseman only put his offensive skills to use enough to score 27 points (7 goals, 20 assists) in 74 games.
While Alexis Lafreniere would regress from his 57-point production in 2023-2024, scoring 45 points (17 goals, 28 assists) in 82 games.
