New York Rangers new head coach Mike Sullivan issues a shocking statement that calls out former head coach Peter Laviolette during his first press conference with the New York Rangers.
The new head coach for the Blueshirts wasted no time to send a direct message to his players, including Igor Shesterkin while taking a shot at Peter Laviolette and the team's performance last season.
The New York Rangers are wasting no time this offseason as they are looking to move on from their disastrous season. After winning the Presidents Trophy during the 2023-24 season, and failing to make the playoffs a year later it was clear that a change was needed.
So without any hesitation General Manger Chris Drury made the decision to fire Peter Laviolette and waited for the perfect opportunity to sign two-time Stanley Cup champion, Mike Sullivan as their next head coach.
The 57-year old coach has a ton experience coaching in the Metropolitan Division, which resulted in him to send a clear message to Igor Shesterkin and all the other Rangers that are on the roster during his first press conference, while taking a subtle shot at Peter Laviolette.
«As we all know, talent alone doesn't win championships. Teams win championships,» Sullivan boldly stated during his introduction as head coach in New York. «I think that's going to be our challenge from Day 1, is to become a team in the true sense of the word.

Sullivan' comments cut deeper than many think, as he carefully tailored to the New York Rangers passed situations and struggles. However, the future is starting to look bright for the New York Rangers heading into the 2025-26 season.
