Tragic news strikes as longtime hockey player has sadly passed away at the young age of just 38-years old after a ongoing battle with brain cancer.
According to reports, MacLeod was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer after he was hit in a game for the Columbus Blue Jackets' American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Falcons back in 2013.
Not long after his diagnosis, doctors removed a golf-bal sized tumor from the left side of his brain, which was confirmed not to be cancerous. However, this did cause him to lose his ability to speak, and despite all this MacLeod continued to play hockey for several years in the midst of undergoing treatments.
Unfortunately, it only lasted five years, as in 2018 he suffered a series of series of seizures that was suppose to end his hockey career, but then again in 2021 he defied all odds and retuned to the ice with the EIHL's Manchester Storm in the United Kingdom, where he only played seven games due to ongoing health issues.
