Roster Transaction: New York Rangers Recall 29-Year Old Defenseman From The Hartford Wolf Pack
Just moments ago the New York Rangers have recalled 29-year old defenseman from the Hartford Wolf Pack following another devastating injury on Saturday night.
Very scary as Soucy goes head first into the boards, he looks like he went out there for a second. #NYR
Then on Sunday morning, the Rangers organization confirmed that Soucy was going to placed on Injured Reserve (IR) with an upper-body injury.
#NYR Carson Soucy listed on IR on official media site.
Connor Mackey has been added to roster.
Resulting in the New York Rangers having to recall a player from the Hartford Wolf Pack, that player being 29-year defenseman Connor Macky.
New York Rangers Recall Connor Mackey From The Hartford Wolf Pack
On Sunday morning the New York Rangers made the decision to recall Connor Mackey from the Hartford Wolf Pack, to replace Soucy as he remains sidelined.
UPDATE: #NYR has recalled Wolf Pack defenseman Connor Mackey.
Now many fans are question why the New York Rangers didn't recall top defensive prospect
Scott Morrow, and it's as simple as cap restraints. The Rangers currently only have a
projected cap space of $825k, while Mackey fits due to the fact his cap hit is $775K, and Morrow is at $917K.
Along with that team do not get cap relief when a player goes on IR, it's only when a player is placed on LTIR, which then requires the player to miss a minimum of 10 games or 24 days.
At this time, it's still unclear if Mackey will play for the Rangers during Sunday nights game against the Washington Capitals.
