According to recent reports the New York Rangers are reportedly going to be parting ways with a former 1st round draft pick that they acquired this season from the Los Angeles Kings after he was placed on waivers.
As we all know, the New York Rangers failed to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year, only a year after winning the President's Trophy and making it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Something that resulted in former head coach Peter Laviolette being fired, and leaving General Manager Chris Drury no choice but to replace him with former Pittsburgh Penguins two-time Stanley Cup winning head coach Mike Sullivan.
Chris Drury to shake up the New York Rangers roster this offseason
As the New York Rangers continue to make additional changes their rosters this summer, it was reported that the Rangers are likely to to move on from Arthur Kaliyev after they claimed him off waivers last season.
"Neither his shots or push for scoring chances were spectacular. In his 14 games he had a 47.48 expected goals for percentage, and a 48.68 Corsi for percentage according to Evolving-Hockey, and that suggests more often than not he was chasing play as opposed to driving it."
"If General Manager and President Chris Drury decides to let Kaliyev enter unrestricted free agency, the loss of a player who didn't do much more than skate for 14 games wouldn't impact the Blueshirts much at all moving forward."
