Former New York Rangers forward Jack Roslovic remains a free agent. This is a surprising development for Roslovic, who was said to have multiple NHL teams interested in him, including the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers.
The Columbus-born forward had a career year with the Carolina Hurricanes, scoring 22 goals, which is more puzzling as to why he's still a
free agent.
It's something no one would have expected, given the attention he'd been fielding after reportedly turning down a contract offer from the perennial contending Edmonton Oilers.
There were rumors that General Manager Brad Treliving and the Toronto Maple Leafs were interested in signing him, but nothing had developed.
Originally a 25th overall pick in 2015 by the Winnipeg Jets, he has seen time in the postseason with both the New York Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes.
Jack Roslovic Remains Unsigned in a Mystery
Roslovic could be a formidable middle-six option
for a team that needs secondary scoring in the lineup.
But is it a matter of the kind of contract being offered not to his liking, or is it more so that he's not interested in the team's calling?
The last two teams he's played for have been contenders in the past, which is puzzling why he would reject
a contract from the Oilers and GM Stan Bowman.
As per a report from The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun, "I do believe there was an offer from the Edmonton Oilers at some point, but Roslovic, 28, turned it down."
The forward earned $2.8 million last season playing for the Carolina Hurricanes.
