GM Chris Drury and the New York Rangers signed prospect Nathan Aspinall to an ATO with the Hartford Wolfpack. Aspinall's Flint Firebirds were recently eliminated from playoff contention in the OHL.

The New York Rangers made a significant signing that could bolster their prospect pipeline in the AHL.
They signed former Flint Firebirds forward Nathan Aspinall to an amateur tryout in the AHL with the Hartford Wolfpack.
Aspinall and his Flint Firebirds were eliminated from the playoffs in the OHL before signing the ATO with the organization.
Aspinall played 62 games for the Firebirds this season, scoring a total of 47 points (17 goals, 30 assists), a career-high for the 19-year-old.
His ATO is for the remainder of the AHL season, as the Wolfpack will see what the former Rangers 5th-round draft pick is made of.
His career-high in goals (18) came during the 2023-2024 season with the Firebirds, would tally only 34 points.
In 156 games in the OHL, he's scored a total of 85 points during his three-year stint in the juniors, and will have his first taste of professional hockey with the Wolfpack.
The Markham, ON-born forward was drafted 159th overall in the 5th round of the 2024 NHL Draft by GM Chris Drury and the Rangers.
Will he earn a contract after his ATO is over?
According to Blue Line Station, he could wind up in the Rangers' bottom-six if he plays good enough in the AHL.
Well, this year, Aspinall has shown himself to be a significant contributor to the Flint Firebirds' success. In 48 games this year, Aspinal has 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points. He's on pace for 17 goals and 28 helpers for 45 points if he plays every remaining game of the Firebirds season. That's the kind of player the Rangers need for their bottom six if he can continue his strong development curve

Now begins his journey to the NHL.
