Rangers insider confirms trade talks between the Rangers and Boston Bruins are intensifying
The floodgates have opened as the New York Rangers will look like a completely different team if GM Chris Drury continues to make moves. And now it looks like he's on the hunt for s 2nd-line center.
The team where he's looking for that talent is another original-six team in the Atlantic Division, the Boston Bruins.
The Bruins are also one team who will have to consider retooling the lineup, considering they could miss the playoffs entirely.
That would trigger a sell-off to the likes we've not seen in Boston in some time, and the team could snag up center
Pavel Zacha as a result.
According to Kyle Hall of Belly Up Sports, the
Rangers are one team who are interested in the center.
Zacha has played above and beyond expectations in Boston and had a few years of great production under Head Coach Jim Montgomery.
In the last two seasons, he produced 57 points and 59 points consecutively and has shown that he can be more than just the depth player he was in New Jersey.
Zacha is in year two of his four-year contract which pays him $4.75 million AAV, and could easily fit underneath the Rangers cap space.
He's still third on the team in scoring with 12-25-37 in 62 games, all while averaging 19:23 per game and serving as the Bs' de facto No. 1 center for the second year in a row.
Zacha would be a great addition to the Rangers as he's great on the face-off circle as well, since 2023-2024 has had a face-off winning percentage of 54.2%.
