Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette gives praise to Barclay Goodrow
The Rangers are preparing for their Eastern Conference final matchup against the Florida Panthers and head coach Peter Laviolette gave praise towards Rangers centre Barclay Goodrow as Laviolette feels Goodrow's game is where he wants it to be.
There was a noticeable drop off in his goal production during the season as his past seasons have been far better in terms of numbers. During the past two years, he had put in 11 and thirteen goals per season whereas in 2023-2024 he only scored four times during the regular season.
But as Laviolette states, it appears his game has been elevated do to the playoffs as he has played ten games, scoring three goals with 2 assists for 5 points and is a +1. Goodrow also brings intangibles to the lineup including penalty killing, shot blocking and fighting which are all part of playoff hockey and helps give the Rangers an edge as they will be looking for any edge against the upcoming Florida Panthers.
Goodrow gives good value in contract
Goodrow is in the middle of his contract which he signed six-year $21.8 million deal. He holds a cap hit of $3.641 million AAV which is a modest number for a player who gives those kind of results in the bottom 6.
The Rangers and Panthers will begin their new series at Madison Square gardens on May 22nd and game time will be at 8:00 PM eastern.
