The first round of the NHL is always one of the most difficult in pro sports.
Especially now with the format the league has gone with seeing many good clubs facing off against one another.
This was discussed on the Spitting Chiclets podcast of a possible Rangers vs Islanders 1st round matchup which would be intense.
While many would feel this would favour the Rangers more and could be an easier on for the Blueshirts, it's quite possible it will be a battle that could go seven games.
Goaltending is fairly even as both Igor Shesterkin and Sorokin are capable stealing games and controlling the play.
Both teams have some flaws in defense and some scoring issues which will play into a series.
One factor that would help both teams is geography.
They would be able to stay in their practice buildings and would just need to hop on a bus down the road.
There would be zero travel so that would make the series even better.
We will see how this ends up and if this matchup is possible.
But I feel the same that it would be a great matchup for the fans and the players.
