Peter Laviolette Criticizes One Of His Defensive Line Pairs
The New York Rangers lost their six game win streak Saturday, against the Minnesota Wild.
It was a brutal loss, not only because it broke the win streak, but also in the fashion they lost. Because the Rangers had a big, 3-0 lead early in the game, only to lose 5-4 in their first shootout of the season.
It may be weird to say this considering we were up 3-0 this game, but we did escape with a point. The reason why I say this?
Honestly, after the first 10 minutes of the game, the Rangers defensively, played horrific.
They truly miss
Adam Fox leading the helm, and the Rangers third defensive pairing of Zac Jones and
Braden Schneider, aren't winning any hearts.
Head coach Peter Laviolette had this to say about the pairing:
"We gave up way too many attempts, way too much zone time. We just lost the battles in those areas. But it was just one game, too.
And it wasn't just 1 young defenseman or 2 young defensemen. It was a group of guys who needed to do a better job. I don't have a problem playing two young players together."
Laviolette is right on the money here. It is just one game, so it could very well be an overreaction on my side.
But in the one game we have seen, it left a lot of questions of if this line can hold it together?
I don't know if I want that question answered against the fourth ranked offense in the league tomorrow, which will be the Detroit Red Wings.
