Breaking news in Rangers Nation as top prospect Gabriel Perreault is expected to sign with the New York Rangers today. NHL insider David Pagnotta's announcement has sent shockwaves through the league, catching fans off guard -- especially with only eight games left in the regular season.
The New York Rangers are currently hanging on by a thread. Following the Montreal Canadiens triumphant win yesterday over the reigning Stanley Cup champions Florida Panthers, the Blue Shirts yet again find themselves on the outside looking in.
That said, it appears that Rangers GM Chris Drury is doing everything he can to give his team a fighting chance.
According to NHL insider David Pagnotta, Chris Drury is preparing to make a formal announcement about the team's signing of top prospect Gabe Perreault.

This is massive news, to say the least.
According to Elite Propsects, Perreault is a deceptive, adaptable, pacey playmaker who always makes the right choice with the puck. He can sequence plays, put pucks into space, and problem-solve against numbers with relative ease.
Perrault has also rapidly emerged as one of the best prospects in the NHL. While he's only 19 years old, he's shown a level of maturity and skill compatible for the big leagues, and the young right-winger will look to make is presence felt early on.
In 36 regular season games for Boston College, Gabe Perreault has notched 16 goals and 32 assists, posting an impressive +25 rating on the ice.
According to Pagnotta, Perrault could come into the lineup as soon as this Wednesday when the Rangers take on the Minnesota Wild.
