The New York Rangers were one of the busiest teams this year, making multiple trades as GM Chris Drury slowly began dismantling the core of the old team.
A team that lacked identity and any kind of fire in their game.
Now, as July approaches, it's expected that Drury will once again be working the phones ahead of the New York Rangers cap crunch.
While in January, he made the biggest splash of all:
According to Lyle Richardson,
K'Andre Miller and Chris Kreider could turn out to be trade candidates in July, especially if contract talks stagnate with the future RFA defenseman.
Kreider and perhaps Miller remain the most likely trade options for the Rangers. Drury could retain Lafreniere to see if new coach Mike Sullivan can bring out the best in the 2020 first-overall pick.
In the meantime, the New York Rangers will have to wrestle with the notion of whether or not they'll send the 12th overall pick in 2025 to the Pittsburgh Penguins, or keep it and draft the best player available in that spot.
It should be a busy offseason for Rangers fans and the front office.
