New York Rangers expected to make shocking move regarding K'Andre Miller as 2025 NHL Draft begins

According to NHL Insider Vince Mercogliano, the developments on a trade for K'Andre Miller remain opaque. The Rangers are without a 1st-round pick in the NHL Draft this year, and according to Mercogliano, maybe the offers for the defenseman weren't so enticing.
The New York Rangers sent their 12th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft to the Pittsburgh Penguins, completing the JT Miller trade. In doing so, they kept themselves from picking a top prospect this year.
As a result, the team was thought to have a trade for RFA K'Andre Miller in the works. But according to NHL Insider Vince Mercogliano, it appears the offers from more than a dozen teams involved didn't seem to move the needle.
Miller would be under team control where he lands next, and would like a long-term deal. But the Rangers weren't prepared to offer him any longer than a few years.
If no trade materializes, that could cement the fact that the Rangers will have to offer him some kind of deal to retain his rights and/or sign him, which could involve a bridge deal.
His last contract, which paid him an AAV of $3.872 million, expired this season, and up until late June hasn't received a qualifying offer.
If the Rangers are unable to move Miller, it might complicate things down the road, as GM Drury is attempting to reshape the offense into something that looks and plays like a Stanley Cup contender.
That would include signing someone like Vladislav Gavrikov, who has been linked to the New York Rangers in recent rumors.
Signing Gavrikov might be a costly endeavor, but for a potential Stanley Cup run, it would be worth it.
