Following the New York Rangers game on Thursday night, head coach Mike Sullivan revealed his reasoning behind stacking his forward lines mid-game against the Edmonton Oilers.

On Thursday night the Rangers entered the third period being down 3-1 to the Oilers, and it truly felt like another devastating loss was inbound. However, Mike Sullivan made the bold decision to stack his forward lines, which resulted in a shocking 4-3 comeback victory for the Rangers in overtime.
Looks like Sullivan is stacking the forwards at the top:

Panarin - Miller - Zibanejad
Cuylle - Laba - Lafrenière
Sheary - Pärssinen - Raddysh
With that being, head coach Mike Sullivan has recently revealed why he decided to make those drastic changes in the third period, here's what he had to say:
Sullivan on his reasoning behind these changes:

"I just felt like our guys needed a spark. We've been talking for a couple of games about loading up one line with our three studs, so to speak. Given the fact that it's been a little bit of a struggle for them to put the puck in the net, we felt if we put them together, maybe that'll give them a shot. The irony of it is, all the other lines scored."

I think it's safe to say that these moves certainly gave the Rangers a much needed spark to help them battle through and take a much needed victory.

New York Rangers Gained A Ton Of Confidence Following 4-3 Victory Over The Edmonton Oilers

Along with this, captain J.T. Miller revealed that their victory over the Edmonton Oilers has provided the team a much needed confidence boost, something they look to build off of as they enter their final game of their four-game road trip. Where they will face off against the Seattle Kraken, and former Rangers Kaapo Kakko and Ryan Lindgren.
Miller on what this comeback win does for the #NYR:

"We need the confidence. I think we liked at least two periods today of our game on the road, playing a really good team at home. We needed that to build some confidence, see some pucks go in. Hopefully that can propel us to keep this thing going a little bit more into this road trip. We have a good chance to finish it off the right way."
