New York Rangers divisional rivals head coach is facing a massive fine from the NHL after recent comments on calling out the NHL Officials on Monday night.
The on-ice officials waved the goal off for goaltender interference, along with that the situation room in Toronto for the NHL viewed the goal and confirmed the call on the ice stands as no-goal.
Unsurprisingly, this caused an outrage from the Islanders bench and especially from head coach Patrick Roy, who voiced his opinion on the referees following the game and now he faces potential fines from the league.
«If Toronto is afraid to overturn calls made by their referee, we don't need Toronto. That's all I want to say.» Islanders head coach Patrick Roy said.
Islanders forward Kyle Palmieri faces large fine by NHL after brutally calling out the ref
«I think it was f*cking embarrassing I guess the goalie needs 5 minutes to get reset and ready for the shot. It looked like [the ref] couldn't wait to wave it off.»
As the Islanders only earned one point from their shootout loss to the Blue Jackets, it could ultimately lead to their playoff elimination, being 3 points out of a Wildcard spot at the moment.
At the end of the night the game ended up going into overtime, where the Islanders lost 4-3, leaving them tied with the New York Rangers in points.
