After it was announced that former Columbus Blue Jackets winger Trey Fix-Wolansky was signing with the New York Rangers. His former team, the Blue Jackets organization wished he best of luck in his new journey with the New York Rangers.
The New York Rangers have signed former Blue Jackets forward Trey Fix-Wolansky to a one-year deal.
Fix-Wolansky has been a depth piece in the Blue Jackets organization his entire career. Last season, he played a total of 65 games with the Cleveland Monsters, the Blue Jackets' AHL affiliate, and scored 60 points (26-34), his second consecutive 60-point year in the AHL.
During his short tenure in Columbus, he'd play a total of 26 NHL games, scoring only 6 points (4-2).
He'll earn the league minimum with the New York Rangers, at $775K while he'll likely be a part of the depth available for callups in Hartford, with the Wolfpack.
Fix-Wolanky was also an All-Star in the AHL this past season while playing with the Monsters.
He's been a career AHL forward, playing a total of 280 games in the league, scoring a total of 259 points (112-147)
he has twice been named to the AHL Second All-Star Team in his career (2022-23 and 2023-24).
The 5'7", 193-pound winger has scored a career high in goals with 29, and assists (42) for 71 points in 2022-23.
He has potential upside that the New York Rangers could benefit from during their retool, which has just begun.
He wasn't able to crack the lineup in Columbus, but could that change here in New York?
