New York Rangers to land Sabres highly sought after defenseman: It was just confirmed

The New York Rangers need some more help on the blueline. The team recently signed defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov to a seven-year deal paying him $49 million. Now, it seems the Rangers could be done working on their blueline, even with Bowen Byram's availability, according to The Fourth Period.
The New York Rangers upgraded their blueline with the recent acquisition of left-handed defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov.
The deal pays him $7 million over the next several years. It occurred right before the team would end up dealing defenseman K'Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes, as he'd receive his own $8.5 million AAV payday.
While you'd think the Rangers wouldn't be finished, as the team needs more reinforcements on the blueline, they're done.
Which is surprising, given the fact that a player like Bowen Byram remains available. According to the Fourth Period, the Rangers are one of the teams that are out on the former Stanley Cup champion.

The Sharks have also expressed interest in Byram, a restricted free agent, and join a long list of clubs vying to acquire him, including the Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues, among others, with the Blues considered the most aggressive in their pursuit.
The Rangers should be one team that is interested in upgrading on the right side, considering how much they're truly lacking with Will Borgen and Braden Schneider being the other right-handed defenseman available at the moment.
However, after all is said and done, the Rangers are in a cap crunch, and it would take more than just an NHL player to acquire Byram's services.
