Matt Rempe Stuns Fans While Targeting New Jersey Devils Rival During Latest Charity Game
Matt Rempe took part in the charity event, the "Shoulder Check Showcase," and one of his rivals showed up, in the New Jersey Devils' Brett Pesce. Instead of acting like it was a normal nonprofit event, a switch flipped, and Rempe almost demolished the defenseman into the boards.
Charity event be damned, Matt Rempe of the New York Rangers put his talents to good use yesterday. At 6 PM in the Terry Conners Rink in Stamford, CT, Rempe suited up for a good cause.
But caveat emptor, instincts are sometimes difficult to overcome, as Rempe would lean into them after seeing defenseman Brett Pesce with the puck.
Reacting like he would during an NHL game, he attempted to put him through the boards, reigniting the Hudson River Rivalry in the middle of a nonprofit matchup.
While the game was for a good cause, Rempe reacted like a bull in a china shop, attempting to smash everything in sight.
Pesce's Devil's logo was like a target for Rempe to zero in on, and luckily for him he was able to avoid being checked into the boards.
"Reach Out. Check In. Make Contact."
For Rempe, this was unironic on the ice, as he attempted to reach out, check in on Pesce with his shoulder, and make contact.
Even in light of it being a lighthearted matchup, there's still funny moments ot be had as undoubtedly, some fans in the audience had to be chuckling like we were witnessing that moment happen.
Rempe's earning his $1.95 million total contract every day, and of course, this was no different.
Instead of being an NHL player, he was doing community outreach and offering support to hockey players who might feel ashamed to ask for help.
