Long-time NHL Veteran Prepares For Final NHL Season As Retirement May Be The Only Option

According to recent reports from NHL analyst Mayor's Manor on X, long-time NHL veteran and captain Anze Kopitar of the Los Angeles Kings will be playing his final season in the National Hockey League as he won't sign another extension.
Several reports believes that the end of the 2025-26 season could truly be an end of a lengthy era for the Los Angeles Kings, as two-time Stanley Cup champion is reportedly going to play his final season in the NHL as an extension doesn't seem likely.

Anze Kopitar was originally drafted 11th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, and would play the entirety of his 19-seasons the NHL with the same organization.
Kopitar quickly became known as one of the best 2-way forwards in the National Hockey League. Especially after his outstanding performances that helped the Kings win the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014, which also included another WCF appearance in 2013.
Anze Kopitar helped the Kings' eliminate the NY Rangers In the SCF back in 2014
Kopitar was one of the Kings' best forwards in the 2014 postseason series against the New York Rangers back in 2014, where he helped the Kings defeat the Rangers in a four-to-one series in the Stanley Cup Finals. Along with Rangers current back up goaltender Jonathan Quick being a part of the Kings victory.
Kopitar currently has 1278 points (440G, 838A) in his NHL career, all with Los Angeles, and with no doubt he will have his sweater No. 11 retired by the organization when he does retire.
