Things have intensified between the New York Rangers and their captain Jacob Trouba after speculation that the team is set to strip Jacob Trouba of his captaincy.

At the beginning of the New York Rangers season, the team was expected to be contenders for the Stanley Cup.

After facing several issues throughout the first quarter of the season and being on a five-game losing streak, things don't look so good.

Despite these struggles, the Rangers still sit in the first wild card spot in the Eastern Conference and could very well turn things around.

However, the Rangers slow start has led to General Manager Chris Drury placing several core players on the trade block, such as Jacob Trouba, Chris Kreider, and Kaapo Kakko.

It's no secret now, as it has been confirmed that the Rangers were trying to trade Jacob Trouba during the offseason but the trade never materialized.

Now, according to several reports GM Chris Drury and head coach Peter Laviolette are looking to shake things up and potentially strip Jacob Trouba of his captaincy.

Unfortunately Jacob Trouba has been a disappointment for the Rangers over the last two seasons, and with an $8 million cap hit it's holding the organization back from making big moves.

At the end of the day, only time will tell if the New York Rangers will strip Jacob Trouba of his captaincy.
