Lightning's head coach Jon Cooper issues kind words for Rangers legendary broadcaster Sam Rosen
New York Rangers broadcaster Sam Rosen will retire after the 2024-2025 NHL season ends. Today, the Rangers will face off against Jon Cooper and the Tampa Bay Lightning. The two-time Stanley Cup-winning coach honored Rosen with a gesture.
Today Jon Cooper and the Tampa Bay Lightning will face off against Peter Laviolette and the New York Rangers.
But before the battle begins, a legend if honored and that is Sam Rosen who has been a legendary broadcaster for the New York Rangers.
Rosen will be broadcasting with the team in Tampa today and Cooper brought him along for the press conference.
Cooper started the press conference by acknowledging Rosen and his achievements before what will be Rosen's final game in Tampa.
«This is his last one, so Sam is going to do the press conference with me,» Cooper said at the start of the media availability. «He may be the greatest hockey announcer.»
The two-time Stanley Cup-winning head coach gave Rosen a nice bottle of wine to celebrate his last time broadcasting an NHL game in Tampa.
«Well, we've had some really great ones,» Rosen responded, as the two agreed on listing him in the top three.
As the press conference got underway, Cooper gifted Rosen with a bottle of wine to thank him for all his years behind the microphone for the Rangers.
«It will never make up for everything you've done but thank you,» Cooper said
Rosen has been a part of MSG Networks for 40 years and has called legendary games for the New York Rangers.
This includes the team's last Stanley Cup win in New York, during the 1994 season.
Rosen will be missed by all of us as he's been the voice of the Rangers for as long as we can remember.
