Rangers star Chris Kreider spoke out about being named a healthy scratch as the Rangers took on the New Jersey Devils on Monday afternoon.
As the Rangers held their first practice, Kreider did not mince words on what he felt was needed to be done to get back into the lineup.
«I think there's a lot of details within my game, stuff that I'm capable of doing, stuff that I've talked about with the coaches, focused on and worked on last few days or so and recommitted to,»
It's been a hard road for Kreider and the rest of the Rangers as the team has been continuously spiraling downward over the past month as they have now seen their position in the standings now out of a playoff spot and the road to getting back very difficult.
Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette also answered questions after practice and did not feel it was necessary to bring up Kreider's healthy scratch.
«I already answered those questions the other day,» Laviolette said. «You asked me why decisions were made, I answered them. He had a good practice today. He is an important piece to the team and we are moving forward. We need him and everybody to be great players from this point out in order to work our way back in.»
Krieder's point production has dropped dramatically over the past year as he has scored eleven goals but only one assist for 12 points.
The Rangers hope that this may be a turning point in their streak as they would like to turn the page as the team heads into the new year and hopefully can regain their footing and get back to the winning that the Rangers fans are accustomed to.
It's safe to say that turning down the temperature in the room would be a good first step which seemed to have taken hold with Chris Drury speaking to the entire team less than a week ago. The Rangers need to win and they need one soon.
